Call for Entries — New Wave, Second Edition | Cairo International Film Festival

Cairo International Film Festival opens submissions for the second edition of New Wave, a programme conceived in partnership with the Drosos Foundation and supported by the British Council, to be presented as part of the festival’s 47th edition, 11–20 November 2026.

The program invites Egyptians and young Arab filmmakers, film students, art and media professionals, and cinephiles residing across Egypt governorates, offering them a space to further discover their love for cinema. The program commits to providing an inclusive and equal experience, with special attention to economically marginalised regions of Egypt.

The program provides participants with an exceptional opportunity for networking and engagement with local and international industry professionals, fully accessing finest Arab and International films screenings at CIFF. The program also brings to them a wide range of panels, workshops, and masterclasses with key industry experts working across different disciplines from around the world.

Applicants can come from any department in film industry, such as production, directing, writing, cinematography, acting, art direction, distribution, and curation. The program also targets beginners and cinephiles who would get this chance to discover their relationship with Cinema and start their career path from within CIFF. The program commits at establishing gender equality in its selection of participants, ensuring no age ceiling, bringing on board equal opportunities for all men and women starting their career in film industry.

Selected participants will receive a fully funded experience, covering festival accreditation, domestic travels to and from Cairo, shared accommodation in the heart of Cairo during the whole period of the program.
